Social Media Surgery in Leith

IMG_6615copy

What is the difference between a tweet and a hash tag? How do I set up a Facebook fan page? Why would I begin a blog? What’s the difference between Instagram and Flickr? What’s the best way to share my community group’s activities online? Why do people use social media anyway, isn’t it just a waste of time?

Are these the sort of questions you have? If yes the next Edinburgh social media surgery could be for you.

Are these the sort of questions you know the answer to?  If yes the next Edinburgh social media surgery could be for you too.

I’ll explain. During a surgery social media patients get one on one practical support from social media surgeons. Surgeons are volunteers with social media knowhow. Patients are people who want to know more. We need both to make a surgery work.

The next surgery takes place at Leith McDonald Road Library (that’s not here, it’s at our sister library in Leith) between 5.30pm and 7.30pm on:

  • Monday 21st January
  • Monday 18th February
  • Monday 25th March
  • Tuesday 4th June
  • Monday 8th July
  • Wednesday 14th August

Register as a patient or surgeon here

I was one of the surgeons back in 2011 when the surgeries first started. One of my favourite patients was Zoe, the Mum of a boy Adam. Adam blinks to write poems. Read about it on Greener Leith here. I’ll be helping out as a surgeon when I can and I hope to see you there.

The surgeons are especially keen to help any local voluntary or community organisations who are interested in making the most of the web and social media. The Surgeries are sponsored by Greener Leith and the The Broughton Spurtle.

Thanks for flagging this event. I thought it sounds like a great idea and I’ve offered my services as a surgeon!
