Storytelling with Audio and Video

I was invited to share a bit about what I’m doing here at Leith Library during a couple of workshops on storytelling with audio and video at the Social Media for Social Good Conference in Glasgow.

It was great to connect with so many different organisations and one of my workshops was live streamed and recorded. I’ve copied a description of the workshop below the video and some links to examples used during the workshop. Watch the video on Youtube.

Social reporting: Storytelling with audio and video
Emily Dodd, Leith Library

Social Reporting is about capturing an event from the inside, using audio, video and photographs. It’s about involving local people in something that matters to them in their community, and helping people to become digital storytellers. Emily is a screenwriter and film producer who recently has been training North Edinburgh community groups to become digital storytellers. She will use this workshop to talk about different styles of social reporting and how to get your organisation started in social reporting.

Examples covered in the workshop:

Leith Library picuture blog: We’re on Twitter

Leith Library video blog: Pirates in Leith

Leith Library audio blog: Do you need a lift to Leith Library

Greener Leith picture and podcast blog: Home Composting

Greener Leith pupil podcast: Cutting Waste in the Classroom

I mention our plans for Book Week Scotland, see highlights here.

And I mention working with the Environmental Wardens to produce the Greener Leith Dog Poo Films.

Thanks very much to Third Sector Lab for inviting me to speak about Leith Library at their conference.
